The golfers generally make a mistake when they hold the golf club loosely in their fingers but make their arms stiff. This may result into poor control of the club and the golfers have to use too many muscles in the swing.

Don’t forget to hold the club firmly in your fingers, if you wish to play a good swing. Suppose you are trying to pick up a cup of coffee with your loose fingers and stiff arms. Can you guess the consequence? Most likely, you will drop it. The same thing will happen in case of a golf club.

After you learn to hold the club properly, it’s time to concentrate on a proper pull of the club. When you try to pull either too hurriedly or from the elbow or shoulder, you may put a stress on your arm and your torso. If you wish to play a good swing, hold the golf club firmly in your fingers. This will help you to be in line with the shot and you will hit the ball to its destined target. And then, you can also bounce off your club in a proper manner.

Mastering the skills of holding the club with firm fingers and moving the club smoothly enables you to play shots in artistic manners. When your finger grips will be firm, you will start playing golf as a professional.

There are several ways to swing a golf club. The modern swing, or also known as the lower body swing or total body swing, is the most important swing. In most young golfers who have lean body and are the first timers, a particular type of swing is visible, which is called “tail swings the dog”. When a young boy swings the club with his arms, his body gets twisted a little across the front portion of his body due to the movement of his arms and the club. A young boy usually has a flexible and supple torso that easily moves about in space in reaction to the forces that come into play by the active movement of his arms and club.

On the other hand, most overweight men in their middle-age, due to their heavy, non-flexible central torso, play a swing called “dog swings the tail”. A man with bulky body is unable to bend his torso complying to the movement of his arms across the front portion of the body and hence plays this type of swing.
