Every year sees the increase in computer game sales and every year it seems the only people really watching sports like golf and tennis are people that play them. Are the comuter games getting close to the real sports or is it just me? Do you burn the same amount of calories playing them on a game? The answer to this question is . . . perhaps. Obviously if you are buying say a golf game for the 360 or PS3 it is not going to do anything apart from save you money on one of those electric golf trolleys.
The only real aspect of the golf game that you are going to lose out on if you were to purchase a computer game on the Wii is the waking part. Let’s be honest, most pros don’t bother walking any of the way as it is. Game devlopers are always looking to improve the games they are making and this has become more of a competition than anything and the Wii is taking advantage of this by using its powerful motion sensing technlogy. When you are playing games on the Wii like golf and tennis it really does feel like you are playing the real thing at certain moments, the same is true for all sports in which you use your hands. The new attachment for the Nintendo Wii which is due out later thi year means motion sensing technology is going to advance even further. This is going to mean that game devlopers are going to try even harder to make the games more realistic than ever before. So is this really having an affect on anything? It is a great idea for all the people who simply cant afford to go out and pay loads of fees. Everytime you wish to play golf all you have to do is walk to the console and switch it on.
I really do love games, but I personally think that they should stick to making the games that people that play them like and leave the sporting ones out of it. It would be horrible to see a decline in people playing the sports that a lot of people love to watch due to computer games getting in the way which means there should be a limit to how real a sporting game should get.
So next time your stuck between going out in the rain for a round of golf or plugging in the Wii for a bit of a game, stop and think, the real thing is always better so charge up those golf batteries and get playing!
